PROJECT LIVING-DEAD 10

PROJECT LIVING-DEAD 9 -HERE

Picking up the phone, she dialed her mother’s number.

“Hello who is on the line?”.

“Mummy it’s me…Diya said in a tone barely above a whisper”

“DiyaPreye!  How are you? What happened to your phone? I have been trying to reach you, your number hasn’t been going through"

“I’m fine mummy”

“Ehen I got a letter from your school o. It said you were selected to represent your school in a debate at China and that you would be traveling there to stay for some months. I was given a paper to sign that I consented to you traveling. Diya are you there?”

She opened her eyes in surprise and stared angrily at Dr Bayo.

“Yes mummy I am. Umm did you sign it?”……Diya asked partly hoping she didn’t.

“Of cos I did! That’s why I have been trying to reach you. You couldn’t even call me to tell me the good news before your school did”

“I am sorry mummy my phone is bad. I am still trying to fix it. That’s why I am calling now. I had to tell you. I didn’t know the school would send the letter that fast”

"It’s alright my dear. But umm you don’t sound too excited why?"

“Oh no I am! It’s just this phone issue that I am worried about”

“Ok if you say so. How about your job how will you sort that out?” Dr. Bayo made a move to retrieve the phone from her.

“I sorted that out already.
I have to go now mummy I’ll talk to you later I love you!”….. Diya reluctantly handed the phone back to him. “You had this already planned out didn’t you?”

I believe its time for your next dose…. Dr Bayo said smiling. “I’ll just be over there watching you”… he said pointing towards the large mirror.

“Increase her CP-4 dose by 10grams”….he said to the doc that was coming in to inject her as he exited the room.

PRESENT TIME
Looking round the room, Diya felt so vulnerable like she did the first time she was been locked up in the room months ago. The realization that they had her mother being watched closely made her lose all motivation to fight. All she wanted at that moment was to go back home, to her old life before the whole drama began. Sitting upright on her bed, she hugged her knees and buried her face in between as she began to sob quietly, something she had not done since this whole fiasco began.  While she sobbed, she heard his voice;

 “TYPE-C are you awake?”

Slowly she raised her head, but couldn’t see anybody. And like he read her mind, he pressed the button that made him visible through the mirror from the observation room where he stood.

“over here!”….. Dr. Bayo said drawing her attention to the mirror which she now affirmed was actually a false one like she had earlier presumed.

“ how are you feeling TYPE-C”….. he asked.

“Who are you? And where am I?”…..Diya replied without answering his question.

Looking pleased, Dr Bayo drew closer to the glass that dermacated them.

 “you don’t remember?”

Diya looked at him cluelessly without saying a word.
Picking up a file, Dr Bayo scribbled some things into it before putting it down and then returned his gaze on her.

“I am Dr Bayo. I created you….but umm not in the sense that you think. Ummm you’re my work of art so to speak”…..he said boastfully.

“Who am I? and do I have a name?”….she asked again. Her state of complete cluelessness excited him and he couldn’t hold himself back from gushing about his achievement-her.

“You are TYPE-C, a “HUMAN LETHAL WEAPON”, your capabilities are so enormous and you have no idea as to what you can do. But never mind, I am here to help you through it . We are about to make history! One of the greatest finds ever made by man. You are my success story”

“I don’t get you, are you saying I am sort of a machine?”

“No no my dear! You are more than just a machine. You are an advanced human created to kill based on justice. With the likes of you, countries need not go to war anymore, no more prisons, no more terrorists. You become the police of the world! Just one of you on the field at any troubled site, would put an end to every menace and bring the world peace”

“I do not not understand? Why am I restrained?”

“I’m sorry for bombarding you with all this. I know it’s so much information to grab at a go since we only just got out of a little issue, but that’s all sorted out now. Umm I will be sending some men over there now to take of the restraints. Can I trust you enough not to be a bother to them?”.

Diya nodded  in affirmation.

"Good! they’ll also be bringing you food and your hourly dose to help you sleep. Be nice! I’ll come check on you later"….. he said as he restored the false mirror.

Diya sat still on the bed while making a mental calculation on what her next move would be now that she had successfully gained his trust by making him believe she couldn’t remember a thing. She sat quietly, as she waited for the men who would come take of the restraints.
The first man walked in with a tray that had food and beside it syringes and two bottled fluids. The second followed suit almost immediately with a key, while the third man stood at the door holding a gun. “so much for trusting her”… Diya thought to herself.

While the man with the tray stood beside her, the man with the key moved closer and bent down to take off the restraint on her leg. Once he had it taken off, he left the room. Diya flexxed her feet  and muttered an inaudible “thank you”. All the while, never taking her eyes off the man with the tray and the other with the gun. She began to cough really hard, which made the guy with the tray put it down and hurried to go get her water to drink. The distraction, gave her enough time to take the syringe that already had a medication meant for her. She hid in between her legs.

Returning with the cup of water, the ignorant man made a move to help her take the water, and just as he bent a little to assist her, she swiftly, stabbed the syringe into the back of his neck and emptied all of its content into him causing him to collapse in an instant. The one with the gun hadn’t even taken in completely what had just happened before she had him cornered and knocked out with a single punch to the throat.
Diya bent down and picked up the gun, returned to the bed and took the bottled fluid and the extra syringe on the tray as she stepped out of the room in search of Dr Bayo.
